What is a SERVICED apartment?
Good question, when setting up Gwyn Hafan we asked this many many times but failed to find a qualified answer, so far better is to say what we believe it means.....
You should expect as good as if not better standard of accomodation than a good hotel. You should be able to book in the same manner as a hotel either for one night or much longer. You should expect to have all your beds made and towels supplied on arrival. You should expect at least a weekly maid service. You should expect to arrive and not have to go shopping for essential supplies of toilet rolls or tea bags etc.
Are you really on the Seafront?
Absolutely!! When you step out of the building you have only the prom road to cross and you are on the beach, from the apartments you will find the sea mesmerising and better than the telly.
Do I have to pay a Security Deposit?
No, its just like booking a hotel room, however like a hotel we do reserve the right to make a charge to your credit card the cost price of any item discovered removed from the apartment at your departure, but we will not do this without informing you first.
Is it really no Smoking?
Definitely, these apartments are very clean light and airy and we intend to maintain them this way. However if you have an occasional smoker in your party we would suggest booking Ground floor Apartment as these have a small patio outside and would suit such a smoker. Obviously we cannot police this policy during your stay but we reserve the right to make a charge to your credit card should housekeeping discover smoking has taken place within your apartment, to clean carpets curtains etc.
Do you have any other Properties?
Yes we have a selection of other properties for rental we have Student houses, Post Graduate houses plus longer term 'corporate let' houses some with with fantastic views.
Will I have to pay for electricity etc?
Not at all, everything is included in your booking fee including linen and towels plus Beach Towels in the summer and a weekly maid service. However a daily maid or mid week maid service is available.
Do you have a car park?
There is plenty of free parking on the prom outside, although rarely you may have to wait for a space. I have always found a space, and certainly in the evening it is virtually empty. However we do have a couple of parking spaces at the rear.
Can you provide me with a full shop over and above your welcome pack?
If you have specific requirements, just ask and we will do our best to help.
Can I have some friends to stay?
The apartment is your home from home and you can have as many people to stay as there are beds.
Do you have a babysitting service?
We are parents ourselves and can put you in touch with one or two very reliable sitters that we use.
Will I really see any Dolphins?
Never garaunteed but highly likely, when they do visit Aberystwyth they always feed here in the small bay at South Beach right outside your window. Do have a look through the Guests Comments page to read what they have seen.
I'm travelling by train, can you meet me at the station?
With prior arrangement we can help, just give us a call.

Booking Terms and Conditions
- The hirer or person booking must be 18 years of age or over and authorised to agree to the Booking Terms and Conditions on behalf of all persons included in the party occupying the property.
- All bookings must be accompanied by the appropriate deposit. We require a deposit of 10% of the total accommodation cost (minimum £30.00) at time of booking. The remainder of the payment will be due 14 days before the start of the apartment stay. For bookings made within 14 days of arrival we require full payment at time of booking. We will sometimes hold or reserve an apartment for a few days, but if no deposit is received at the end of one week we reserve the right to seek an alternative booking for that apartment.
- We do not ask for a security deposit, however the hirer of the apartment undertakes to keep the accommodation and all furniture, fixtures and fittings in the same state of repair and condition as at the start of the holiday, to leave the accommodation clean and tidy and to pay for any damage and breakages at the property and to the contents, before their departure.
- Any cancellations should made in writing as soon as possible. There will be a £30.00 cancellation charge if a booking is cancelled up to 7 days before the scheduled arrival date. If the booking is cancelled within 7 days of the arrival date, or in the case of a no-show, the first night will be charged.
- The hirer agrees not to sublet the apartment, assign the booking to anyone else or exceed the maximum number of persons allowed to stay in each apartment. Each 2 bedroom apartment will comfortably sleep up to 4 adults (16 years and over) and each 1 bedroom apartment will comfortably sleep up to 2 adults. An extra child bed and/or travel cot can often be supplied if requested in advance. In addition, up to 2 extra adults may be accommodated in some apartments with the use of the sofa bed. However, such use of the sofa bed to accommodate 1 or more extra adults in an apartment is strictly by prior arrangement and subject to the use of our own bedding and bed linen. We reserve the right to make a small charge for the use of the sofa bed and bedding. The number of persons staying in the accommodation at any time must not exceed 6 adults in a 2 bedroom apartment and 4 adults in a 1 bedroom apartment. We reserve the right to terminate the Booking immediately without refund or compensation on breach of this condition.
- All apartments are available from 4.00 pm on the arrival day and should be vacated by 11.00 am on the morning of departure.
- From time to time the accommodation owners or their representatives may require access to an apartment while it is occupied, for instance for reasons of safety or for urgent repairs and maintenance. They will always endeavour to give prior notice and arrange a mutually convenient time, however, the hirer must permit such access to the accommodation at any reasonable time during the holiday.
- In the event of any problem arising on arrival or during the holiday, the hirer should bring this to the attention of the apartment owners or their representative immediately.
- Only one of our apartments is currently suitable for admitting pets. A maximum of two well behaved domestic pets may be permitted in this apartment at any one time, by prior arrangement only. Pets must not be left alone in the property at any time and they must not be allowed on to any bedding or soft furnishing in the property. The hirer should supply their own bedding or blanket and feeding/water bowls for their pet(s).
